We’re roughly 2 months into the 2025-2026 school year now, and there are mixed feelings about coming back from summer break. We all miss the days during the summer when we were allowed to wake up at noon. Now we dread the weekdays, where we have to wake up at 8:30 in the morning to get to school. But now that all classes are in full swing, let’s take a look at what students are experiencing in and out of the classroom.
Arush Kadam, a senior at DHS, claims to have mixed feelings about this school year so far. “It feels basically the same as the other three years, but most of my classes are still pretty enjoyable. I just get a little stressed from college applications and AP Macro[economics] because we have so many assessments.”
This is probably how most students are feeling about their classes at Dublin. You like some, you hate some – and this could be for many different reasons. However, school is already taking a toll on students in classes: teachers are already catching their students messing around on computers or falling asleep in class. An anonymous junior at Dublin claims that he has been getting off task in school. “I have been tired from all of the homework, and I just need a time to relax.”
But along with the tiring schoolwork, there’s a silver lining. Outside of the classroom, students are still as lively as ever. Yma Santos, a senior at DHS, says that she has been having a great time. “I really liked the performative contest; that was super unique and unexpected to happen at our school. I’m really excited for my last homecoming dance, and I have been going to the football games, and they are super fun.”
At the football games, there is still the same excitement and energy in the student section. There have even been new additions to the student section with confetti, smoke guns, and even a powder puff toss. In this aspect, this year feels very unique compared to previous years, and there definitely will be more great things to come.
Even if you do not like how school is going right now, there is still time to make high school a more enjoyable experience. You can always join a new club, talk to people you haven’t met before, and even try to find new hobbies outside of the classroom. Just remember to keep pushing and stay strong this school year!
