As the calendar turns toward 2026, it brings more than just a new year – it brings fresh possibilities. For some people, there are major changes on the horizon. For others, life will stay the same. Nonetheless, there are many reasons for people to stay optimistic for what’s ahead. Whether it’s going to be innovations that change how we live, or moments that bring people together – the upcoming year promises growth, creativity, and new experiences.

One thing to look forward to are the brand new, long-awaited movies that are coming out in 2026. These include (but not limited to) Moana’s live action, Avengers: Doomsday, The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, Dune: Part Three, Supergirl, and Toy Story 5, ect.. Not only will there be exciting movies, big events in sports and entertainment will make 2026 especially thrilling. The FIFA World Cup (US/Canada/Mexico), Winter Olympics (Milano Cortina), Commonwealth Games (Glasgow), Super Bowl LX (Santa Clara, CA), and the Coachella & Stagecoach Festivals in California are just to name a few. These upcoming films and events are just one more reason 2026 is shaping up to be an unforgettable year.

Here at DHS, our own students are setting goals already. Emily Liu, a current sophomore, strives to have “better time management” in 2026, because “my grades really need it!” Another sophomore, Claire Lu, is getting ready for the June SAT, and her Drivers Ed Course. “I’m only 67% done with it as of right now…” 

Overall, 2026 is a year worth looking forward to because it brings new opportunities, exciting entertainment, and memorable events. With highly anticipated movies, major events that bring people together, and fresh ideas shaping the future, there are many reasons to feel optimistic. As 2026 approaches, it reminds us that each new year will be different from the last, and new adventures will surely await. So, what are we waiting for? 2026, here we come!
