Summer (June-July)
Although school may be off, our athletic programs remain in full swing with summer training and post-season workouts. Boys basketball traveled to Mesa, Arizona to compete in the Section 7 tournament where some of the top schools such as Redondo Union and Harvard-Westlake play as well. Cross Country headed north to Humboldt for a six day training camp, focusing on maintaining their endurance during the summer. Meanwhile, the girls basketball program stayed local for their summer league as they faced various teams at Cal High. Our boys football program also began postseason workouts as they prepared for tryouts during August.
August
As school starts, Dublin’s fall sports kick off with tryouts and begin preparing for the season. Girls volleyball opened their season with a clean sweep against Castro Valley as Frosh, JV, and Varsity all won. Girls tennis competed in the James Logan Tournament, finishing in an impressive fourth place overall. The boys football team had their first FNL of the season with a Neon Out theme and celebrated a 42-7 win against Berkeley. On another note, girls flag football made headlines as their starting QB, Samantha Botell, was nominated for Bay Area News Athlete of the Week.
September
Cross Country put their preseason preparations to the test at the Ed Sias Invitational and dominated the competition as both Varsity and JV received first place. Girls golf had a great month, gaining six wins. Girls tennis started the season in triumph, facing Livermore in a 9-0 match. Girls water polo displayed an accomplished start to their season, holding a winning streak through five games. Both boys and girls water polo had well-deserved success, achieving their first EBAL wins for the program.
October
Girls volleyball had a successful first rivalry game against Emerald, playing all five sets before Dublin achieved their win. Football’s homecoming game showcased Dublin’s undying spirit with roaring cheers as Dublin’s varsity team defeated Foothill 52-7. Girls tennis remained strong, winning tough matches like their 5-4 victory against Foothill, and making their way towards NCS. Girls water polo made it into NCS playoffs for the first time, a milestone for the program, and continued into NCS semifinals. Breakthroughs for water polo truly were exceptional this season; boys water polo also made history, qualifying for NCS championships.
November
As fall sports start to wrap up their seasons, they leave behind a congratulatory spirit and excitement for the transition into our winter sports. Girls golf capped off an outstanding season by placing third in NCS and qualified for Northern California Regional Championships (NorCal) – an incredible accomplishment for the program and its first appearance since 2013. Cross country won the NCS championship for the third time in a row and seven athletes qualified for state. Moving onto our winter sports, the girls JV basketball team won the inaugural Dublin JV Tournament, going 3-0, and Varsity basketball teams had their foundation games during Thanksgiving break.
December
Boys soccer earned four wins in December, but ended on a rough note as they lost to Las Lomas 1-4. Similar to the boys, the girls team also fell to Las Lomas, losing 0-2. The wrestling program had their girls compete in the first ever girls-only dual meet which was hosted at Dublin. While most teams slow down to prepare for finals, our boys and girls basketball team remained in action with their days packed with tournaments.
From summer training to winter tournaments, our Gaels showed resilience, dedication, and growth throughout the second half of 2025. Countless tournaments, games, and events were huge successes for each team to remember. On a more important note, Dublin’s Gaels never failed to let our athletes down as they cheered them on throughout every season. Reflecting on sports in 2025, our athletes commitment to their teams showed clearly and our Dublin High community had unwavering loyalty. This past year has illustrated the continuous thriving of our school – in both tight-knit teams and a student body devoted to uplifting those teams.
