School can be an incredibly stressful environment, both academically and socially, so it’s nice to have a well deserved break every now and then. That is exactly what school dances like Homecoming are for. Homecoming isn’t just a dance at Dublin high, it’s a full event. From the football game, parade, area build, and night rally tothe actual dance, homecoming is a great way to connect with your peers and have some fun! Hoco, as it is colloquially called, was quite the event this year that came with many memories. Let’s see how students feel about the homecoming hype currently present on campus. 

Sophomore Sarah Garguilo attended a number of homecoming events this year, and she shared her thoughts. Garguilo noted that “my favorite homecoming event I attended was the football game…it was my first ever high school football game, and we won.” The game was definitely an event to remember, full of cheering and dancing for the football team. Before the game, Dublin High’s Irish Guard had their senior night, and at halftime, homecoming royalty was announced. Our extraordinary band also gave a performance to remember. Sarah is just one of the many DHS students that have fond memories of the last football game of the season. 

My favorite Hoco event personally was the skit night rally. The juniors in particular had a very impressive skit and setup that impressed the audience and judges. Sophomores had a very creative idea behind their set for the skits, and seniors dominated when it came to choreography. The freshmen also did an impressive job, especially considering it was their first ever skit rally. The dances in between the skits also didn’t disappoint, with incredible performances by DHS dance team, hip hop, and cheer squad. With amazing lights and events set up by leadership students the night rally was definitely one of the best performances into the 2025-2026 school year. Not to mention the bizarrely fun games set up for audience members including musical chairs, red light greens light, and so many other creative games I can’t even begin to describe. 

Homecoming gives us so many great memories and many students a well deserved break. There’s competition, activities, bonding experiences, absolutely everything necessary in order to thrive in high school. There’s more than just the dance as Dublin has parades, games and rallies all meant to be enjoyed by students. With an assortment of pretty gowns and dancing, homecoming is a great experience for high school students.
