The cover features Vanessa with her eyes closed, symbolism alluding to the nature of her perception of her relationship, as she is unaware of what actually happened. The butterfly is also a prominent motif throughout the book, symbolizing transformation and growth as Vanessa comes to terms with the reality of her past throughout the book.
