As October approached, Dublin High students were all wondering who the next artist would be to perform at the Homecoming dance. Last year, NLE Choppa brought a great performance to our school and lived up to all the hype surrounding the dance. This trend continued into this year’s Homecoming as rapper Super Duper Kyle performed at Dublin High’s Homecoming dance last weekend, with Dublin High students broadly enjoying his performance.
The main performance took place inside the Sports Complex with a mosh pit around the stage. Everyone enjoyed singing and dancing along to the songs played by the DJ. However, when Kyle ran on stage, the crowd erupted, and he became the star of the night. Many students were already enjoying his great performance and songs, but when his most popular song, iSpy, began to play, it ignited the crowd even more. At the end of his performance, he crowd surfed on a surfboard held up by students. Overall, Kyle was a great artist and really electrified the crowd.
Additionally, there were many food vendors who could be found outside that served great drinks and food. There were also a few couches for people to relax with their friends. Also, there were many arcade machines for people that just wanted to have a good time. There were basketball, skeeball, and racing games that people could play for free and compete against their friends. Finally, there were many photo booths that friends used to remember the moment.
When asked her opinion about the Homecoming dance, sophomore Yma Santos stated, “Homecoming was definitely the highlight of my month. Loved seeing all my friends there and being part of the mosh pit. Shout out to BobaX for the boba and cotton candy!”
However, spirit couldn’t only be seen at the Homecoming dance itself. Leading up to the dance, there were various fun events and school spirit weeks that brought a sense of community to the school. One of these events was the night rally, in which all classes performed their skits, and the winners for Homecoming royalty were announced. The next day, dedicated students woke up early for the area build at 4 a.m. on campus. All classes did a great job putting in their effort to make the build. Unfortunately, on Friday, the Gaels lost against Amador Valley in the varsity football game 48 to 0. While this may be a disappointment to students, the Homecoming dance lifted their spirits and undoubtedly outshined all other events.
The Homecoming dance ended when the clock hit 10 p.m., and it was time for everyone to leave. Overall, many students enjoyed this year’s Homecoming and believed that it was even better than last year’s. If you missed the Homecoming dance this year, make sure to buy your tickets quickly next year to not miss out on any of the fun that Homecoming has in store.
