The Fever Code: James Dashner’s new prequel to The Maze Runner

The Maze Runner, James Dashner’s New York Times best selling novel, stars a boy named Thomas and his friends as they try to escape an enormous maze built by the faceless corporation known as WICKED. The natural blend of mystery and action make sure to keep the reader engaged through the entire trilogy: The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials, and The Death Cure, and the prequel, The Kill Order. The series managed to become popular enough to warrant two movies taking the top of the box office with a third one planned for 2018.

Even after all this time, however, readers still know little information about the maze, WICKED, or how Thomas and his friends got there.

Until now.

The recently released The Fever Code promises to answer questions readers have been dying to know since the first book’s release in 2009 – how the maze was built, how Thomas and his friends were chosen, and what WICKED’s true intentions are.

Without spoiling anything, I myself am looking forward to Thomas’s past before the maze and how he ended up there in the first place, along with delving into the minds of the WICKED scientists. However, when I asked David Eisenstadt – a sophomore and vice president of the Art Club – he said that he “looks forward to understanding why WICKED and Thomas built the maze.”
Hopefully, James Dashner plans to answer these questions and more for the first time in the series’ 7 years, so be sure to pick up a copy!
