NCS Basketball Championship
On Friday, March 2, 2017 , Dublin High played against De La Salle High in the North Coast Section Division I boys’ championship game at Sant Mary’s College. The De La Salle Spartans defeated the Dublin Gaels with a narrow score of 53 to 51.
“It was definitely a heartbreaking loss. We’ve been working hard all season,” reveals sophomore Grant Manning, one of the team players. “We didn’t do a great job of defending rebounds.”
Although the Gaels may not have emerged victorious in this tournament, they still have a chance to win in the NorCal boys basketball regionals to qualify for the CIF State Basketball Championship!
The Dublin Gaels all look forward to the NorCal playoff against Lowell High School on Wednesday, March 8. Manning explains, “It is very exciting to play for state championship since this is the furthest Dublin High had gone. I am honored to be part of a team making history.”
Senior Jared Smart believes they should “focus on offense and rebound, especially moving the ball around” in the game. Manning also added, “We’ve put a large emphasis on pushing up tempo. We’ve always benefited from having a fast-paced game and will try to achieve that.”
