What is Your Hope for the 2017-2018 School Year?

“What is your hope for the 2017-2018 school year?”

This was the question posed by the Dublin Unified School District to students across the district. The Dublin Shield reached out to several Dublin High teachers of various departments, asking the same question. Here are their responses:

“My hope is that my students realize how creative, original, and skilled they are.  They have a unique opportunity to shape their visual culture and environment by taking art, and I hope to help them take full advantage of it.”

– Mr. Noel Sollom, Visual Art

“My hope for the 2017-2018 school year is for all students and staff to feel welcome and connected to Dublin High School and our community. “

– Ms. Allison Mongold, Statistics and Precalculus

“I hope we are kind and respectful to one another. We feel safe, confident, and empowered.”

– Ms. Erin Vallejo, English and Technology Coordinator

“I hope that my students will have a successful and enjoyable year, and that they will all be able to fulfill their goals. Learning a new language can be difficult, but with enthusiasm and plenty of practice, it will be rewarding.”

– Mrs. Rocio Serrano, Spanish

“I hope students learn. I hope they learn about the content we are teaching, and I hope they learn more about themselves.”

– Mr. Michael Ruegg, History

“I think my hope is what it is every year: for the students to know that I care about them, and thus give me their best — because I will give them mine.”

– Mrs. Katina Lewis, Physics and Engineering
