DHS Summer Fun! I Visited Napa Valley’s di Rosa Museum

Located in the Carneros region of the Napa Valley, a ten minute drive from Napa’s downtown, the di Rosa museum is a contemporary art museum notable not only for the art collection but the unorthodox display of art. The di Rosa museum is located on two hundred seventeen idyllic acres of land. The land is all controlled by a public trust ‒the natural wildlife has been protected by public interests. This allows the di Rosa to attest that they are the only museum in Northern California, and possibly the entire United States, that can boast a collection of peacocks in addition to art.

The development of the museum can be attributed to two devoted patrons of the arts, Rene and Veronica di Rosa. Their generosity and love for the arts motivated them to establish the Rene and Veronica di Rosa Foundation with the vision to to build an “art park” for the benefit of the general public. They supported emerging artists and  have cultivated a collection with a wide range of styles and subject matter that truly capture the energy and passion of Californian artists. The collection includes work from a wide range of artists including Viola Frey, Deborah Butterfield, and William T. Wiley.
