Fall Sports Recap
Girls Tennis:
In the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) with 10 teams, The Dublin High Varsity Girls Tennis team ended up with a league record of 3-9, coming in at 7th place in the East Bay Athletic League. In terms of standings, the girls ended up behind San Ramon Valley High and were ahead of Carondelet High. The Varsity Girls Tennis team did have a solid season, however, and hopefully, the girls varsity team will have an even better one next year.
Girls Volleyball:
As for the Dublin High Varsity Girls Volleyball team, they certainly had an impressive season. In terms of the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) with 10 teams, the volleyball team ended with a record of 10-3, coming in at 3rd place behind schools Foothill High and Monte Vista High. However, if they were ranked in terms of all teams they played (including the ones not in the East Bay Athletic League), the team would end with an overall record of 26-6. Unfortunately Dublin’s playoff run was stopped after they were defeated by Redwood High with a score of 3-1 in the the NCS/Les Schwab Tires Girls’ Volleyball Championship. Let’s hope that the Varsity Team will win the title next year!
Girls Golf
The 2016-17 season was certainly interesting for the Dublin High Varsity Girls Golf season, with a record of 7-7. Out of 10 teams in the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL), the Varsity Girls Team placed in 6th place, behind teams Foothill High School and Granada High School and ahead of Amador Valley High School. At the NCS Golf Championships held in Chardonnay Golf Club, the girls finished in 6th place out of 22 teams. Great job Lady Gaels! We wish you luck for next year!
Boys Football
The Dublin High School Varsity Football Team, the most watched team in DHS, came out with a record of 2-6 in the East Bay Athletic League. Out of the 9 Teams in the league, the DHS Varsity Football Team was ranked 7th and, in the standings, were ahead of teams such as Granada High and Dougherty Valley High. However, after looking at teams that are not in the East Bay Athletic League such as American High and Alameda High, the DHS varsity team record becomes 4-6. Let’s go Gaels and good luck with next year’s season!
Cross Country
The Boys Cross Country Team won the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) title on November 4, 2016 in Shadow Cliffs Park, Pleasanton, the first time the boys varsity team has ever won a league title. Likewise, the Junior Varsity Team also brought home a championship, along with the Frosh and Soph team winning 2nd place in the competition. Knowing the competitiveness of the other 10 teams in the EBAL, this victory is remarkable. The Girls Varsity team unfortunately lost a tie-breaker for 4th place to Carondelet High School. In addition, the Boys Team won the North Coast Section Championships held in Hayward High School, with a team time of 77:77. The Girls team also ran the second fastest time in Dublin High history with a time of 1:41:11.Both the boys and girls team rewrote history for the Dublin Cross Country team and keep it up!
