Which Day Will You Shop?
Not all people enjoyed leaving Thanksgiving dinner to shop. They weren’t excited by waiting in long lines at two a.m., being pushed and shoved to get to the best deals first by fellow shoppers in huge crowds and for those who didn’t enjoy these things but still wanted to take advantage of the holiday deals there was Cyber Monday.
There are those who did enjoy the rush and thrill of Black friday, who loved knowing exactly what they’re getting and getting it there in the store, loved being wired on pumpkin spice coffee, and who loved the transfer to the holidays.
Reasons to steer clear?
There were some cons when it comes to holiday shopping on Cyber Monday. Most wanted to know exactly what they’re buying, the quality, material, the products worth but with Cyber Monday you couldn’t “kick the tires” and see the merchandise in your hands. Shopping online is also a long process; you must have first picked your items out just by going off of the pictures displayed, order your gifts, you’d then have to wait for shipping, and when your shipment did come and if you didn’t like it, it can be dreadful to return something by mail. Plus not everything that was on sale Black Friday was still be on sale for Cyber Monday, online and instore usually have different deals.
When it came to Black Friday some of the merchandise was lower-end; prices may continue to drop as the holiday season goes on but why pay any money at all for something that has no value? During the holidays it’s too easy to over spend in the midst of a buying frenzy, it’s crowded, and the real bargains may be limited in quantity and sold to early bird shoppers. The real downfall to most shoppers was how you ended up cutting your Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends short to be the one of the first in the store.
“I work at Express in Stoneridge. I had to work all through the night and people were horrible,” Amelia Dickenson, Senior at Dublin High stated.
Another downfall to Black Friday is the face to face interaction, although it is the season of kindness and giving, shoppers are brutal.
“I’ve never been spoken to so rudely,” Dickenson continued.
Do people really shop?
During last years Cyber monday the United States reached an all time high of shoppers online, but this year the United States shattered the record yet again.
“ U.S shoppers spent a total $2.29 billion [Monday December 1, 2013],” the U.S industry statics website stated.
The website also stated that shoppers were more likely to get all the shopping done at once when shopping online and that it was easier to find deals using search engines. Now while $2.29 billion is quite a lot the same website stated that $12.3 billion dollars came out of Black Friday all together in the U.S.
During this holiday season, shopping becomes absolute chaos, so depending upon your personal preference when did you shop?
