The Dublin High School Marching Band Competes in Their Last Fall Competition for the 2015 Season

This Saturday, on November 14, 2015, Dublin High School’s band and color guard showed off their field show at their last competition. They performed the four-movement piece Dreams of Flying by Frank Sullivan, which features a fast-paced lively tempo and captures the joy of flight through music. The band was led by its director Paul Everts and its drum major Davis Zamboanga, a senior who performed his last high school field show that night.

The competition was hosted by the Western Band Association, also known as the WBA, at James Logan High School in Union City. A grand total of twenty-nine bands performed at the competition, and there were nine bands in Class 4A, Dublin High’s division. In the end, the band scored eighth place with a score of 73.30, which was an improvement from their previous scores in WBA competitions.

The band arrived to rehearse at 10:00 in the morning, left for James Logan High School at 2:00 in the afternoon, and performed their last field show at 6:00 in the evening. They had a long day, but their positive attitude and flexibility made the day a success.

Next year, the marching band is working on implementing a technique program with their new marching band instructor Jordan Roquemore. Although their field show program had a rough start, the band, or more commonly known as the Irish Guard, is working hard to make the best field show they possibly can. They have spent over a hundred hours marching and practicing their music to create an amazing ten minutes of performance for the audience. The Dublin High School Irish Guard is definitely a band to watch out for!
